Psalm 22 Bible Reading Relaxation
Let’s begin. Find a comfortable position that will allow you to relax. You may want to sit in a supportive chair or lie down. You can close your eyes if you want to.
Sometimes it may be difficult to put thoughts aside so you can relax. Let’s take some time to notice and acknowledge your thoughts and concerns so you can start to get ready to meditate and focus on the word of God. Take a few moments now to notice your state of mind. What is on your mind? What kinds of things have you been thinking about? Are there distractions or worries that interfere with your ability to relax? Are there things you need to do or that you have been worrying about? Let’s go ahead and think about these things. I’ll pause for one minute so you can think about whatever is on your mind.
(Pause one minute)
Gently bring your attention back now. If you need to, it’s okay to pause this audio to give yourself more time. When you’re ready, you may want to take some time to give your worries, cares, and thoughts to God. Take some time now to converse with God and to give up your concerns, laying them down, secure in the knowledge that God cares for you and will give you rest.
(Pause)
If you would like to join me in prayer, feel free to join in as I pray for the peace and wisdom of God to fill us and guide us through this meditation.
Lord, I come before you now, laying down my worries, concerns, and cares at your feet. At times, these can be too much for me to carry. I trust you to take all my anxieties and give me peace.
In your infinite strength, goodness, and wisdom, I trust you to care for me. In this moment, I ask you to guide my thoughts, take my worries so I can put them aside, and fill me with peace.
Your word says that you will give wisdom to those who ask, and I humbly ask for wisdom. You are all knowing, and you see the things that I am unaware of. Please give me peace and wisdom, and fill me with reassurance that you do and will work all things together for good. Reassure me that even the things that are not good will ultimately be made right. Give me the confidence to trust in you even when I cannot see the outcome or your plans. Fill me with your love, wisdom, and peace.
Please guide me as I meditate on your word. Show me what you want to say to me through these words as you guide my heart and mind and fill me with your Holy Spirit. Thank you for your love, care, and guidance. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
I’ll pause now for you to spend a moment with God. You may choose to pray, think, or just relax quietly. Do whatever you need to do.
(Pause)
Now allow yourself to relax and allow your mind to become clear and quiet as you prepare to meditate on the word of God.
