When we are busy, it can be hard to take the time to just be still. Our minds are often filled with all the things we need to do. Worries can become problematic as we focus so much on all the stressful things that we lose a sense of peace and calm.

Worrying can become a habit. Anxiety can be associated with regular worrying or just a busy mind. We become so accustomed to worrying, that this anxious manner of thinking becomes habitual and familiar. As a result, we may not even realize that we are worrying, and may not know why we feel so stressed and anxious.

Relaxation techniques can help you to restore a peaceful state of mind. Just like worrying can become a habit, a quiet and calm mind can become a habit, too. When you learn to relax the mind, you learn how to create the habit of calm thinking rather than anxious thinking.

Panic attacks are severe bouts of anxiety that can be very scary and upsetting. Read more about panic attacks here.

Dealing with Anxiety

Relaxation techniques are not the only way to deal with anxiety, but they are one piece of the anxiety management puzzle. Remember to also take the time for self-care, regular exercise, and spiritual pursuits.

In the Bible, the book of Philippians describes how to deal with anxiety through prayer and Biblical meditation:

Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice! Let your gentle spirit be known to all men. The Lord is near. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things. The things you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.
