A Quick Mental Break to Calm the Mind Relaxation Script

Pause for a moment to take just a few minutes to relax. Just for now, stop what you are doing and be still. 

Pause…rest…doing nothing. 

It is okay to be still. This time of quiet is good for you. You will be more productive after taking a break, so even though it may be difficult to stop because you want to get things done, remind yourself that you will get more done by taking a break than by pushing through. 

Be still. Just breathe. Allow the only movement to be your breath moving quietly in and out. Nothing else. Just breathing. So peaceful.

Do Nothing.

Do nothing right now. You do not need to focus, or think, or plan. All you need to do is breathe, and rest, and relax. Let go…releasing tension as you do nothing at all.

As you let go of mental tension, you may also release physical tension that your muscles could be holding onto. Breathe out with a gentle sigh as you let your arms and shoulders go limp. It is as if you were carrying burdens and responsibilities in your muscles, and you are now setting them down and taking a rest. Let your muscles go totally limp and relaxed. Feel your shoulders sinking down, pleasantly relaxing. It feels so good to release the tension…let go of the worries…and relax. 

Allow your mind to become quiet. Imagine a feeling of stillness in your mind. Imagine that your thoughts are like wind and waves, rushing around in your mind. Picture the wind becoming calm…so still…not even a breeze. Imagine the waves getting smaller, and the water becoming smooth. Picture your mind as a perfectly calm and clear lake or ocean. Clear, calm, and still. The water is as smooth as glass. Not a breeze blows, as the air is perfectly still. Imagine this total stillness and calm. So peaceful and serene. Enjoy the stillness.

Rest here for a few moments. Feel a freedom of letting go and releasing tension. For now, you have no responsibilities and nothing you need to do. Let go of any worries as you continue to focus on peaceful, calm, stillness.
